A team of UPES students ‘Futuristic’ from the department of Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering won prize Rs. 5,00,000 for product development on reaching the final of “DST & Texas Instruments Inc. India Innovation Challenge Design Contest 2016′. This contest was anchored by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore and supported by MyGov and Make my India” and Texas Instrument, DST, IIM Banglore and DST.
All these great communities enlisted the product created by this team OBDAS (Automotive Electronics Solution) in top 30 all over India out of 11000+ teams . The contest witnessed teams were from IITs, IIMs , NITs, IISC and other leading institutions from India. The finals of the contest will be held in the month of July, 2017.
The team comprised Archit Agarwal and Akash from B.Tech (EE) worked on this project under the guidance of faculty, UPES Dr. Rajesh Singh, Dr. S. Choudhury, Ms. Anita Gehlot and Dr. S. Ghosal.

Rocking once again, the UPES ACM Student Chapter has won the 2015-2016 Student Chapter Excellence Award for Outstanding Recruitment Program worldwide, with prize money of $500. This Chapter has brought proud to the University by representing UPES internationally. The Chapter stood winner against more than 1000 ACM Student Chapters across the world.
The UPES Centralized counselling for the admissions through UPES Engineering Aptitude Test (UPESEAT) 2016 will begin from 21st June to 30th June 2016 in Delhi. The names of candidates enlisted in the UPESEAT 2016 Merit list will be invited for counselling to attend the counselling session in person. The seat allocation to the different engineering degree courses of the University will be done during the counselling session itself.
The 80% of the available seats are alloted through the UPES Engineering Aptitude Test (UPESEAT). On the counselling day, all the essential documents and records are checked for verification. The candidates are accompanied with their parents to finally decide for their specialization. It’s quite exciting to become part of this entire process. The Department of Mechanical Engineering successfully organized a workshop Titled on, “Virtual Labs for Mechanical and Basic Science” on 28th March 2016 by Virtual Labs Project, IIT Delhi. Virtual labs are designed to give remote access in various disciplines of Science and Engineering. Virtual Labs enable the students to learn at their own pace and enthuse them to conduct experiments.

The Virtual labs also give a complete learning management system where the students can avail various tools for learning, including other web-resources, video-lectures, animated demonstrations and self-evaluation.
The visit of Bharat Ratna Prof. C.N.R. Rao, FRS is scheduled at UPES campus during 25-27 March 2015. Prof. Rao will address UPES fraternity on the topics such as “Doing Science in India”and “Celebration of Science.”
Prof. Rao was born on June 30, 1934 in Bangalore. He is an author of over 1400 research papers and 41 books. Among the various medals, honours and awards received by him, mention must be made of the Marlow Medal of the Faraday Society (1967), Bhatnagar Prize (1968), Jawaharlal Nehru Fellowship (1973), Padma Shri (1974), Centennial Foreign Fellowship of the American Chemical Society (1976), SN Bose Medal (1980), Royal Society of Chemistry (London) Medal (1981), Padma Vibhushan (1985), Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Society of Chemistry, London (1989) to name a few.
